    Elevating Your Athletic Recovery

Whether you're a dedicated weekend warrior, a high school athlete, or a seasoned competitor, dealing with a sports injury can be incredibly frustrating. Chiropractic sports rehabilitation is a specialized branch of care that focuses specifically on treating and preventing injuries related to athletic activities. This goes far beyond basic spinal adjustments. As a world-class triathlete herself, Dr. Heidi deeply understands the complex biomechanics of sports. We provide targeted, comprehensive therapies designed not just to heal the immediate injury, but to restore your full range of motion and optimize your body's overall athletic performance for the long term.

    A Multi-Faceted Approach to Healing

Sports injuries rarely exist in isolation; they usually involve a complex combination of joint dysfunction and soft tissue damage affecting muscles, tendons, and ligaments. To address this, we employ a multi-faceted approach. First, specific chiropractic adjustments are used to properly realign the spine and extremities—such as the shoulders, knees, and ankles—ensuring your skeletal framework is perfectly balanced. Next, we apply advanced soft tissue mobilization techniques to break up restrictive scar tissue and reduce painful muscle adhesions. Finally, we prescribe functional rehabilitation exercises tailored to your sport. These exercises strengthen the supporting musculature, dramatically improving your biomechanics and actively preventing future injuries.

Is Sports Chiropractic Right for You?

This specialized care is designed for athletes of all levels and disciplines. It is highly effective for treating common issues like sprains, strains, tendonitis, runner's knee, golfer's elbow, and general joint pain that results from intense physical exertion. It's also an excellent proactive measure for athletes looking to maintain peak condition. However, there are limitations. Acute, complete muscle or ligament tears (such as a fully ruptured Achilles tendon or ACL), unstable bone fractures, and severe joint dislocations require immediate orthopedic surgical evaluation before any conservative chiropractic rehabilitation can safely begin.

What to Expect During Your Rehab Sessions

A sports rehab session at our clinic is highly active, engaging, and typically lasts between 30 to 45 minutes. We recommend wearing comfortable athletic clothing to your appointments. You can expect a dynamic combination of joint adjustments, deep tissue work, and active movement therapies. Throughout the visit, you will be guided through specific stretches and strengthening exercises that you can also practice at home. It is quite common to feel some muscle soreness the following day, very similar to the feeling after a strenuous workout. The frequency of your treatments will depend heavily on the severity of your injury, but athletes often visit us 1 to 2 times a week during the acute healing phase, eventually transitioning to a maintenance schedule to sustain their peak performance.
